We have had alot of people asking who are wanting to build new cars if they are to be 2wd or 4wd. I think personally that since we are running 1/10 scale r/c stockcars that they should be exactly that - a scale model of a stockcar which is 2wd. I think that with numbers and interest growing, sooner or later a ruling is going to have to be made. What are your guys thoughts on this?? Give us some feedback! Cheers, Slick

Hey ya Slick. 2wd or 4wd?? Its a curly one that isnt it? Down here in Welly we will be running both, and not as seperate classes. As you know most of our guys run 4wd and they enjoy it more because they can get the full drift feeling in the corners. The few guys that run 2wd also enjoy it and they have all said they dont mind the 4wd guys as we work on the race what youve got format. I undestand the whole "Scale model" thing and in alot of ways i agree with it, having been in this hobby/sport for 20 odd years. I started the Welly club to race stockys because i wanted to get away from the "You cant race that car here" syndrome that is so dominent in the on road clubs around the country. If we were to impose a 2wd only ruling we'd have sumone els come along and want to make another rule and then another and so on and that for me (my opinion only) would ruin a class of r/c that started out with a bunch of fellas that just wanted to go out and crash their cars for fun. Im all for the "keep it real" theroy which in part is the reason why myself and alot of our guys are stripping our cars to get them looking like the real thing, like you guys. But we will be dropping our 4wd running gear back into our cars (or at least i am). This 2wd 4wd thing could go on for ever as could the motor thing or the weight thing or the alloy vs steel thing or the hey your cars to small or to big thing, we've got a good class of r/c up and running in this country now lets not put restrictions on it and have the "you cant race that here" thing. The welly club will as i said be running any car within our club 2wd 4wd fwd whatever you got bring it.

There is a weight cap bro, 3kg. But it is for our club. We cant dictate what anyone els does, again my ole mate this comes back to the "you cant have" subject.

hey there Bunter, I don't think that the weight thing is really an issue. Our Gissy cars are all around the 3 to 5kg mark, but realistically the heavier they are the slower they are so theres no real gain there, unless the cars that they are hitting are a sitting duck which would then be hitting a stationary car which is illegal! End of the day I think that the real ruling that has to be enforced is the use of 27 to 23 turn motors. Gisborne will run 2wd, but if we venture to a championship meeting, we may be inclined to run 4wd! Cheers guys!

I have to agree with Bevan on this as i have been sitting an watching the forums for a few weeks now and it will end up in a mess as it's starting to kick off as a new hobby to some of us anyway, so till there is enough numbers for 2wd and 4wd then look into spliting them up maybe, but yea at the end of the day it comes down to the driver..hehe Chur Chur ET... #5p P.s The 5p car will be on the track soon.........

Hey cool ET get it going and bring it on down to race the more the merryrer. Thanks for the good feedback on this subject too.
Hey Slick i agree with you all the way i dont think the weight thing is a issue at all, which is why i have changed our weights from 2.2kg to 3kg BUT i do think we need to enforce the motor ruling as you have said. The Welly club will be running and staying with 27 to 23 turns only, with eventually running 23turn as Superstock and 27turn or "box stock" motors as standard stocks. (number of members will dictate) You guys are welcome to run 4wd at ANY big event Slick we certainly wont complain.
